May 15 2008Learn How to Design an Employee Handbook
As a McAllen Chamber Member you will receive a special discount for the human resources workshop entitled “Small Business Handbook Clinic: What You Need to Know to Develop Your Employment Policies” on May 15 from 9 am to 12 pm.
The training, presented by the Small Business Development Center in partnership with the McAllen Chamber of Commerce and the UTSA Institute for Economic Development Human Capital Program, will be held the UTPA Annex located at 2412 S. Closner (Bus. 281) in Edinburg.. The session is designed to assist small business owners and managers in developing, communicating, and updating personnel policies and employee handbooks. Attendees will learn about new areas such as Internet use, picture phones, expectations of privacy, identity theft, and veteran rights. The workshop also encourages employers to keep current with judicial leanings regarding progressive discipline, workplace violence, and harassment.
“Employee handbooks are important in that they contain a company’s policies and may serve as a reference book in the event of a dispute or poor performance review. It is also a key communication tool between employers and employees” stated SBDC Business Training Coordinator Esperanza Pérez Delgado.
